Terms of Service
By using Synk you agree to these terms. They are written in plain English and apply to every account.
Your account
You sign up with an email address and a password, or with Google or GitHub. What happens under your account is your responsibility: keep the password to yourself, use an address we can reach you at, and write to us if you think someone else has got in. You can close your account at any time from your settings; the privacy page says what that deletes.
You must be at least 16 years old to have an account.
Acceptable use
Don't upload content you don't have the right to share. Don't harass, threaten, or impersonate others. Don't try to break the service, scrape it, or interfere with other users. Original recordings, public-domain works, and material you have permission to redistribute are all welcome.
Objectionable content
There is no tolerance on Synk for harassment, threats, hate, sexual content involving minors, or content the poster has no right to share, and no tolerance for the people who post it. Anyone can report a collection, an item, a profile or a message from its menu, and block a person from their profile. A person reads every report within 24 hours; we remove content that breaks these terms and close the accounts that post it.
Your content
What you upload stays yours. By putting it on Synk you give us the permission we need to store it, keep backups of it, make previews of it, and show it to the people you share it with — publicly, by link, or to a person you've named — and to nobody else. Sharing is your choice, per collection, and you can withdraw it at any time. A public collection can be embedded on other sites, and appears on the featured page only if we choose to feature it.
Copyright
If you believe content on Synk infringes your copyright, file a notice via the DMCA endpoint. Repeat infringers have their accounts terminated.
Paid plans
Synk is free within the free plan's storage. Paid plans are subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly through Stripe or PayPal; your card or PayPal details go to them and never reach us. You can cancel at any time from the billing page: the plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then you're back on the free plan. Nothing you uploaded is deleted when a plan ends — if you're over the free limit, new uploads pause until you're under it or subscribe again. Prices are shown on the plans page before you pay, every charge comes with a receipt by email, and all of them are listed on your payments page.
Refunds
If you cancel within 14 days of the first payment on a plan, write to us and we refund it in full. After that, cancelling stops the next charge and the paid period runs to its end; we don't refund the unused part of a period, except where the law where you live says otherwise. A charge that went wrong — a double charge, a renewal after you cancelled — is refunded whenever it happened. Refunds go back to the card or PayPal account that paid and take a few days to show. A chargeback you raise with your bank instead of writing to us ends the subscription at once.
Messages
Chat is between people who have connected. You can delete your own messages — a note that a message was removed stays in its place — and edit them for a short while after sending. You can block anyone, which disconnects the two of you, and report a message to us. Messages are stored encrypted, and we don't look at them unless one is reported.
Suspension and termination
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Suspended public pages return a 410 status to anyone holding the link.
The service
Synk is provided as is. We work to keep it up and to keep your files safe — encrypted at rest and backed up daily — but we can't promise it will never be unavailable or that nothing will ever be lost, so keep your own copy of anything you can't replace. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses that come from using Synk.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. Using Synk after a change means you accept it.
